Recently, the news of ``alternative meat'' has been particularly featured in the media.
Recent meat substitute products made by Japanese manufacturers seem to be quite satisfying even for Japanese people with discerning palates. When I tried it, it seemed like the taste was much improved compared to before. (Food additives are a concern)
As a pork producer, I have many thoughts regarding alternative meats, but it is said that due to the world's population explosion, there will be a global food crisis and a global water shortage problem in 2050. It seems that 2030 is the turning point whether it will come or not. It's getting close.
Producing food = agricultural products requires a huge amount of the earth's water. Earth's water circulates in the sky, sea, and land, but it seems that there is not enough water on Earth to produce food for 10 billion people.
So, there are small things that we can do right now.
・Do not waste water.
- Don't waste food.
American students stood up for this. The Farm Link Project is a network of 700 people at 150 universities. They collect food and agricultural products that are likely to be thrown away and distribute them to people who cannot afford them. So far, 11,000 tons have been collected. This accounts for 7% of the daily diet of the entire American population.
We are expanding our reach to young people around the world and changing the world's food system. “The global food crisis is the real challenge.” Why not do what we can to help? Even if it's something as small as something like this.
