◎This is a reprint of an article published in 2008, "Tategamori Summer" (a public relations magazine for Tategamori Ark Ranch).
Although it is an article from 10 years ago, the content does not fade,
Rather, in terms of food safety and the environment surrounding Japanese agriculture,
It is a content that I would like you to read because society's interest is increasing now.

[Circular agriculture and food]

I have been in the pig farming business for over 30 years since joining the company.
The social situation at that time was also a period of high economic growth, and it was an era when anything, not just pig farming, could be sold as long as it was made.
Under such circumstances, our company aims to provide consumers with cheap and delicious pork considering quality. We believe that we can produce high-quality and delicious pork by feeding mainly plant-based feed, and we have been practicing this from early on.

In addition, food additives were seen as a problem, and the Tategamori Ark Ranch concept was born from the idea of producing, processing, and selling food that our children can eat safely and with peace of mind.
Furthermore, with food safety and security as our company's concept, we composted (organic matter) the waste discharged from the pig farming department and returned it to the soil, working on recycling agriculture.

<Tategamori Ark Ranch's cyclical agriculture and integrated production model>

Ark group company Wakaba Co., Ltd. (currently Wakaba Co., Ltd.) was established in 2005 as a designated management and operation company for the Fujisawa Compost Center.
By making high-quality organic compost at the compost center Wakaba and returning it to the soil, the recycling-oriented agriculture of the region and our company will be completed.
It has been about three years since I became the representative of Wakaba Co., Ltd. (currently Wakaba Co., Ltd.) and started making compost.
What I strongly feel now is that livestock, vegetables, and compost are all living things.
Both animals and plants have life and death, but compost is also a mysterious and attractive product fermented by microorganisms.
Food is one of the things that living things, including humans, need to live.
The origin of food is the soil, and good quality compost is necessary to create good soil.

I think chemical fertilizers are "vegetable additives".
This is because it is a source of nutrition that makes vegetables grow, not a source of nutrition that makes them healthy.
Good compost contains dozens to hundreds of different types of microorganisms, and when returned to the soil, these microorganisms create the soil, create the taste of vegetables, and create a source of nutrients for healthy growth.
I believe that people and animals can live in good health by eating healthy vegetables and feed grown with good compost.
Through compost making, listening to the voices of local people directly,
I would like to work hard with the staff to make good products so that farmers can use them with pleasure.
