Over 50 second-year students from local Fujisawa Junior High School visited Tategamori Ark Farm for work experience.
On October 4th, the weather was unstable and we worked outside in the rain.
More than 50 children worked in groups to manage the lavender fields on the premises, encouraging each other to do the same work.
We started the activity by explaining that the children's activities this time will lead to a beautiful lavender field in late June next year, attracting many visitors from within and outside the prefecture, and revitalizing the region.
The lavender fields are weeded on a daily basis, and we asked the children to carry out a series of tasks to transport the weeded grass outside.
The children who participated were able to complete their work much faster than I had originally expected, and the work was completed in less than 4 hours in the morning and afternoon, making it beautiful in no time.
It was a valuable experience for us, the farm staff, to interact with the children through work experience and experience living together in the local community.
Thank you to everyone at Fujisawa Junior High School for your hard work.
